Today can officially start as the countdown to the 2015/2016 winter ski season in Zakopane. Why? Why not? It’s the 1st September, which means we’re now just three months away from winter starting! That’s definitely reason enough to start thinking about waxing our skis and snowboards ready to hit the slopes for our first runs of the season, our excitement has begun, it’s going to be a long 3 months!
As sad as it sounds, the first thing we’re looking forward to is flying into Kraków’s newly developed International terminal. It may not sound much but after enduring a full winter of transfers in and out of the tiny domestic terminal at Krakow Balice over the last year or so it will be great to have guests flying back to the main terminal. The last 10km of the main road to Zakopane has finally been resurfaced as well, which should mean our often sleepy guests manage to sleep all the way back from the airport and will no longer be subject to the surprise transition from smooth road to what felt like 4×4 terrain as you approach Zakopane!
This is the first year for a while that there’s not much to report on the ski lift front. We’ve been lucky over the last few years to see the opening of new lifts and the development of ski areas every year in and around Zakopane so whilst there may be no brand new lifts this winter there will still be the same great places to enjoy with our holiday guests and we’re sure there’ll be something happening that we’re not yet aware of!
Our first guests this winter are flying in for a Christmas ski holiday and from then on it’s non stop skiing right through until the middle of March, time to hit the gym and start working on those leg muscles! The family ski holiday period during February Half Term was amazingly fully booked way back in April this year, which is the only week we have no availability for. All other weeks are available for skiing and waiting for you to come and enjoy! We’ll keep you posted on any news coming from Zakopane as the winter starts to take shape, keep enjoying the sun for now, winter is coming!
